The Capricorn Ridge wind power project channels renewable electricity into the Electricity Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) grid. Located in the counties of Sterling and Coke in Texas, this 662.5-MW wind generation plant helps to reduce the state’s reliance on conventional fossil-fuels, saving more than 952,000 tonnes of CO2 emission reduction annually. That is equivalent to taking approximately 186,000 cars off the road [1]. The plant consists of 342 1.5-MW General Electric turbines and 65 2.3-MW Siemens turbines. Together, they generate enough electricity to power more than 220,000 homes.
